Global Money Week 2025, an international financial literacy campaign for children and young people, started today in Ukraine.
This is the eleventh time that the National Bank of Ukraine has supported this initiative: it is the event’s official coordinator in Ukraine.
The key theme of this year’s campaign is “Choose reliable financial information, take care of your financial future” (“Think before you follow, wise money tomorrow”). It emphasizes the importance of critical thinking in financial matters, the ability to analyze information, and making informed financial decisions.
In the context of growing digital risks and information flows, this topic is especially relevant for the younger generation of Ukrainians. Therefore, it is important to teach children and young people the basics of good money management, to recognize there are emotional triggers when buying goods or services, and to critically evaluate sources of financial advice. Financial literacy training will enable them to better navigate financial services, resist fraud and manipulative information on social media, and recognize when advice might be biased or harmful.
This year’s Global Money Week will take place from 17 to 30 March 2025.
What can the participants expect?
This year’s Global Money Week will feature three important educational initiatives:
- 27 March – FinLit Forum, the largest educational conference on financial literacy in Ukraine.
This year’s conference is dedicated to the topic of introducing financial literacy in the New Ukrainian School. For the second year in a row, it is being organized by the National Bank of Ukraine with support from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Over 2,500 teachers registered to participate in the conference online. This once again demonstrates the importance of teaching financial literacy at school, particularly in the run-up to the introduction of a new compulsory subject – Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy – in grade 8.
You can register for the conference at this link by 26 March. More information is available at the website of the Talan Financial Knowledge Center.
- The national final of the European Money Quiz, the largest financial quiz in Europe for teenagers aged 13 to 15, took place on 18 March.
Participants from Ukraine participated in the competition for the third time. The European Money Quiz is supported by the European Banking Association, its members, the National Bank of Ukraine, and the Independent Association of Ukrainian Banks. Twenty-four teams – the winners of regional qualifiers – will compete for the right to represent Ukraine at the European competition.

- 21 March is the final of the All-Ukrainian Financial Literacy Championship for 10th grade students of general secondary education institutions. The event will be organized by Junior Achievement Ukraine in partnership with the National Bank of Ukraine.
This year, the All-Ukrainian Financial Literacy Championship is being held for the first time. In the finals, 65 winners of the regional qualifiers from 24 regions of Ukraine will compete for the title of champion. More information about the championship is available here.
Almost 5,000 teachers who support the campaign in their educational institutions have registered to attend Global Money Week 2025 events. Together with its partners, the NBU has prepared a rich program for them: educational materials for lessons, competitions for preschoolers, schoolchildren and university student, webinars, and virtual tours. The event will include the usual competition for the most active educational institutions participating in Global Money Week 2025 and a new competition workshop for teachers – the Integrated Financial Literacy Lesson.
All Global Money Week 2025 educational events for children and young people are free of charge.
Financial literacy is the key to a stable future
“Ukrainian young people are growing up in an extremely challenging environment, where economic risks and fraudulent schemes are changing rapidly,” said NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyy. “That is why it is crucial to teach children and teenagers the key principles of financial literacy, so that they can recognize fakes, check information sources, and take responsibility for their own financial decisions. We believe that through initiatives such as Global Money Week, we can help young people become financially independent, conscious citizens who are able to build a successful future for themselves and their country.”
